Maro Itoje has secured his long-term presence with England by turning down lucrative approaches from France and signing a fresh contract with Saracens.
The club captain will not be tempted by a big-money transfer abroad.
“Maro embodies everything we stand for at this club – he is an outstanding captain,” the club stated.
Itoje’s previous contract, inked in 2024, was set to expire following the next year’s World Cup, but he has now reached a new agreement with his club despite overtures from Top 14 teams. Moves to either Perpignan or Bordeaux had been speculated, but the 31-year-old is set to pledge his future to the side he first played for in 2013 with a new deal, reported to run until 2029.
